### THE PROBLEM

When COVID-19 shut down in-person events in the spring of 2020, everyone raced to take events online — and the market filled up overnight with platforms promising the same thing. Jumbo saw what their clients actually needed: not another generic webinar link, but an event that looked, felt, and ran like their own. Every client wanted a tailored experience — their brand, their schedule, their stage — and Jumbo needed a technology foundation that could deliver one on demand, reliably, at the pace the pandemic set.

### WHAT WE DID

We’ve been Jumbo’s development partner since June 2020. Together we’ve built a white-label events platform where every end client gets a tailor-made brand and theme, plus everything an event needs to run: live stages and replay libraries, schedules, chat, Q&A, attendee profiles, trivia and goals, branded registration and access links, and live analytics on who’s watching and for how long.

WordPress was a firm requirement — not anyone’s first pick for real-time software. So we built a live layer around it: a real-time socket, backed by Firebase Realtime Database, keeps every attendee’s page connected to the event as it unfolds. Operators can send push notifications and hot-swap the media feeds on the page mid-event, with no one hitting refresh, while the platform quietly gathers viewing statistics and usage data the whole time. On the front end, it’s hand-built, framework-free JavaScript, with MobX powering reactivity in the UI. It’s lean, fast, and it has held up with more than 1,700 concurrent viewers in a single live event.

And it goes well beyond typical white-label. We *heavily* customized the WordPress admin, and because WordPress is so extensible, with a deep plugin ecosystem behind it, Jumbo can add features client by client: custom registration workflows, plus integrations we’ve built with end clients’ CRMs and member databases. The requirement that looked like a constraint turned out to be a selling point.

### THE OUTCOME

Within a year, Jumbo grew from $250,000 in sales to over $1 million, with a very high client retention rate — clients told them the platform was more reliable and easier to use than the alternatives. Plenty of platforms launched in that rush. Six years on, Jumbo’s is still going strong: 636 events across 100 client sites, with nearly 68,000 viewers logging more than 43 years of combined watch time across live and on-demand video.

> They can mesh with our team to address our weaknesses and adapt their strengths to whatever we need, so their flexibility is key in keeping us working with them happily.
